At a diner in Southern Utah I saw a small white tail mounted on the wall. The woman working there knew nothing about it. It was very small despite having 4 points each side and nicely shaped if small rack. I don't know how one tells age by the face but this deer looked middle aged to me. Later camped on a very small creek in a deep canyone I saw small deer track and scatt, quite a bit, but no deer.
Still later while driving home I saw mule deer up above 8,000 feet where the snow was just barely melted.
Do the low Utah Canyons have coues? It was about 20 miles W of Glen Canyon Recreation area at about 5800 feet in a canyone of permanent water.
