Cotton Mesa area Colorado Elk Hunting

I have heard some big bulls are taken out of the cotton mesa area in Colorado. There are some private ranches in the area but way out of my price range Yes . I would like to hunt elk with out a guide. Does anyone have any info about this area. I have seen some real nice bulls taken from here.
Thanks Pat.

The Cotton Mesa Ranch an extension of the Texas Disease. It is nothing more than a high fence shooting preserve. In fact, it has 28 miles of high fences. No matter the size of the critter, Boone & Crocket won't recognize the score. I'd rather shoot a steer in a feedlot than hunt there. But that's just me--your expectations may differ. To each his own.

I did not know that. I know there is a ranch, but I thought the animals were free roaming. I thought I might put in for tag in the area and try to take a nice bull. I figure it was near New Mexico with some other large bulls haning around the area near the border.
Thanks for the info, I guess I will look for another area
