And we're supposed to be excited about the death of debate in our political process?

Au contaire. We have a two party system, New Democrats or corpratists and the Progressive Caucus. Look at all the debate on health care, it's between the two. Republicans just say no and shout absurd mythilogical claptrap. They still have Fox and the MSM, and they still have a bunch of New Dems scared they'll be called unAmerican, but that's about the extent of it.

Usually bi elections swing the other way, we'll see.

Yes sir Mr. Ex. That is exactly what is supposed to happen.
We are supposed to just shut up, sit back and take our lumps. Remember, we lost the election and it matters not that we are still American citizens and are supposed to be represented in our Government.

A little light at the end of the tunnel though. I believe that Obama is a Lame Duck President now. He will not be re-elected to a 2nd term. Too many of the people that I have talked to that voted for him are now having second thoughts and as soon as the gas prices go up and stay up, power bills double and triple, taxes sky rocket so that Federal and State governments can pay for their programs in the face of a wrecked economy caused by these same programs, then a great many of the other "fence sitter" supporters of Obama will abandon him and the Dem party as well.
It is my hope and goal to have the entire congress be replaced. Democrat, Republican alike. They are all a bunch of crooks and bums in my opinion.

Al Franken, on the other hand, is a joke that is not funny.

That's straight out of "The Blues Brothers."

"What kind of music do you have here?"

"We got both kinds -- country AND western."

Skinny? Not any more

Those videos Fox shows are 30 years old. Hard to knock a guy just because he used to be a comediane when you all worship a guy who used to be best buds with a monkey named Bonzo.

Of course there's also the fact that he writes, like you know books, by himself not with a ghost writer. And they have funny titles like,

"Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot (and other observations).”

or my favorite,

Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right

I like the Lies book for a couple of reasons, one Fox news sued without success to have the name changed. This from a company that also sued in court to protect their right to knowingly lie. The sueing (about the book) just brought lots of additional publicity and drove sales through the roof. The lies book also exposed the one unifying theme of the modern right wing of American politics. Namely big fat whoppers of lies.

Being exposed isn't that bad for the extreme right, being laughed at hurts and Fox has learned to hate Franken with a passion.

Oh, yeah...that's the kind of person we want to hand the founding fathers' legacy over to. Maybe some day his lofty rhetoric will be engraved on a memorial on the National Mall.

There once was a time when we elected people who represented what we looked for in our highest hopes for democracy. No more. We've now taken our freedoms for granted to the point that we elect people for entertainment value.

I elect people who have the backbone to call a liar a liar, bet the founding fathers would agree with me.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. In the days of the founding fathers, Franken would've died in a duel ages ago for slanderous accusations and conduct unbecoming a gentleman. Alexander Hamilton died for a lot less.

In the words of Aaron Burr, "political opposition can never absolve gentlemen from the necessity of a rigid adherence to the laws of honor and the rules of decorum".

Al Franken is a classless clown destined to become a footnote in history. History remembers those who elevate, not those who denigrate.
