Concealed Carry Pistol ???

What would be your first choice for a concealed carry pistol ?
My Glock model 22 is a little big for that.
I am looking for some suggestions.

Thanks
Kevin

I am partial to the Ruger LCR

I am partial to the Ruger LCR in .357 since I prefer revolvers over alutoloaders for a lot more reliability.  Also depending on what I am wearing I might throw in my Beretta 96 in .40 S&W, it is a little large but I have had no problems with it.

I started with a resolver years ago but these days I carry a bottomfeeder. My off duty carry is a SIG P226 DAK in 357 SIG. For those days when I really need to appear unarmed it's a Glock 26.

I looked at the Glock 26 and 27 today, I would be happy with either.
I also want to get a gun for my Wife and teach her to shoot, how is the recoil on the 26 ?, is it something the average woman can handle ?.

Thanks
Kevin

Kevin,

With proper technique, and good training by a qualified professional, it's not much of an issue. My wife has a Glock 19 and is competent with the 26 if the need arises.

Some folks find the recoil on the 26 to be a little "snappy" but if they learn to curl the pinky finger under the butt of the pistol and use a "crush grip" it's usually not much of an issue. Check out Massad Ayoob's, "Stressfire" for the "crush grip". As for how firm to hold the pistol, I hold it so hard that I want to see plastic being squeezed in to oil. That does wonders for the reported "snappiness".

I'm not a fan of the .40 S&W but that's why I carry a 357 SIG. While I think your spouse could likely learn to handle it, the glock 27, I don't see enough of a difference in reported stopping power for it to be an advantage.

Thanks guys There are just to many choices. lol. I think we are narrowed down to just a couple for my Wife with the S&W MP Shield 9mm leading the way for her. I like the Shield too. for me it is the Glock 19,23,26 or 27, and I like the Springfield XDS and I want to look at a S&W MP compact yet. Being left handed complicates things a little for me. a gun with a conventional safety is worthless for me.

S&W and Glock

Well we picked out our guns.
I bought the S&W MP Shield 9mm for my Wife, She shot a few rounds with it Saturday, and did Great.
I went out yesterday and bought the Glock 27 for me. I will shoot it later today.
