As a matter of fact one that scored 178 in Boone and Crockett was killed one mile from where I live. I live here all the time and take care of these animals by planting winter feed. Also I have killed many deer but I didn't kill them for sport. I killed them to feed my family cause I didn't all ways have this here empire. I'm a old man in my twilight years now and I just love all this. No im not Batman nor Robin (u would never catch me wearing tights) but I will all ways defend your rights as americans, which I did in the military, and which I will continue to do as long as there are politicians and courts that want them eroded. No harm intended. Buck, I apprecite your military service, I just wanted to note that. Powder, I would like to pick your brain on an issue that came up on the topic. Regarding cockfighting, I honestly have no opionion one way or the other because I have never encountered it or even thought about it (other than a few times I have seen it on TV). Would you give an overview of it? I mean I know what happens but I was wondering about things like, where do they hold them? Is there gambling involved? How many states is it legal in? Just curious I guess.

MNHunter, please don't get discouraged with this board due to interactions with Buck and Powder. I've been on this board for about a year and a half now, and I haven't seen anybody else that comes close in terms of thinness of skin or number of exclamation points used. Both were asked to tone it down over a year ago, and disappeared until recently. Some of the other "old heads" on this board like Bitmasher, Saskie, et al, would probably agree that this board is very well done and almost completely populated with very level-headed folks from all walks of life who share a common interest. You don't see extremism on this board (at least not for very long), and that's why I've kept coming back. We appreciate people like you who bring well-thought opinion to the board and are willing to debate on an intellectual, rather than emotional, level.

Yes MN hunter, there was no harm meant and if i am emotional its because I believe all people have rights and not just a few that wants to take away the rights of the citizens that were fought for by our fore fathers. We are not talking Human rights here we are talking Animal Rights. The animal rights groups are using their money to buy politicians and take away the rights of citizens. Hey MN Hunter go look at the thread posted about wheather voters should decide about hunting. Look who are some of the ones posting on there and what they had to say. Yet when it comes to a voter initive on cock fighting in Okla, Ariz, and MO. where the cockfighters made the same arguments about urban people and people being lead astray about things it all fell on deft ears. Mostly because people are fed a sound bite on the six oclock news and its anything but informative and also papers like the Tulsa Rag and the Daily Oklahoman with bias editors fed them a steady diet of passage. Now a poll has been taken in Tulsa and 56% of the people that voted to ban it said they were lied to and wish they could recend their votes. Check all this out. Thanks again Buck

Two posts from Buck and no answers to solid questions. Yet he did manage to state yet again that those seeking to ban all cockfighting are also taking away your rights (I guess just all rights), destroy christianity, and if we all don't get together hunting is next.

I'll answer one question, chicken fights are banned in 48 states, OK citizens approved a ban in 2002, but it is being challenged in OK courts.

To be honest wish you the reason why I stopped posting was due to the fact that I was very involved with the cockfight movement here in Oklahoma and it took up much of my time, along with the fact that I drive 2 hour one way to further my education, so that to has taken up a great deal of my time. The main reason I stopped posting was because each time that I posted Expatriate seemed to get upset over what I posted and accused me of being emotional and of ranting and raving. As for being asked to tone it down I was never ask by the moderator to tone it down. Buck was the one who was told to drop the keyboard or else because of his liberal use of the “!” and capitol letters. So as before now that I have baited Expatriate into peeking at what I have to say, I will drop the keyboard and back way from the board as CENSORSHIP has raised it’s ugly head once again.

Cockfighting is only legal in New Mexico, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Oklahoma is still legal only because we have an injunction against the state from enforcing the law. Due to the fact that the court can not seem to be able to interpret the law as it has been written, we are still able to engage in the age old tradition. As for what happens at the rooster fights it goes like this. Two roosters are placed in a pit where they fight until one in unable to peck or to cowardly, then the rooster is counted out and the fight is over. People do place wagers between one another but the house “pit” is not involved. The fights are held at different pits around the state which have a license to be opened. Participants who have roosters in the derby pay an entry fee and whom ever wins the most or all their fights wins the entry fees. Glad that I could help you with your questions about rooster fighting as it is my passion.

Good response Powder. However what about other forms of animal fighting that aren't usually considered dinner? Same rules hold, what about pit bulls for instance?

Another question. You see nothing ethically wrong with putting two animals (dinner or otherwise) in a situation where one or the other will end up dead or maimed for the soul purpose of human entertainment?
