I have a chance to buy a voucher for these units,But I cant locate any info of other hunters hunting here. How is the deer population? Also It looks like very high elevation is there lower ground for these deer to winter or do they move out of these units? This is a 3rd season voucher.Any input appreciated

don't do it

Although a 14 year old shot a 200 something inch buck out of the Hayman Fire in 501 a few years ago, I wouldn't touch that tag.  Easily one of the worst deer DAUs in the state, and then to purchase a landowner voucher?  No way!  Notice the success rate in unit 500 has been 0% for 4 out of the last 5 years, and in 2009 it was 8%  They kill one of the highest percentages of the available deer in any DAU out of those three units, and I assume you're going to be charged a premium for the tag, and then it sounds like you'd be stuck on public land.

Just pick up Poudre or Middle Park leftover.  You won't pay as much, the success rates are just about as bad, the deer density is as bad in the Poudre, but better in Middle Park, and they kill a lower percentage of the available bucks (almost 40% of them last year).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but at least you're trying to do some homework first

never mind

Wow, scratch the Poudre tags off the list too, those didn't make it to leftovers.  So for 3rd rifle you have 18/28/37/371, 27/181, 29 or 38.  I still say go with either of those Grand County options.
