Colorado SWA's

Can anyone fill me in on the Colorado Springs and the Beaver Creek SWA's? I'm not able to find much info on these. Am I able to hunt these SWA's as long as I have a tag for that specific GMU? The regs have info regarding the STL's but not much regarding the SWA's. If anyone can help me out it would greatly be appreciated.

That sounds right. Beaver Creek is open to hunting, but I can't find anything on a Colorado Springs SWA.

Beaver Creek:
http://wildlife.state.co.us/LandWater/StateWildlifeAreas/

Says it is open to deer, sheep, rabbit, turkey and dove. Doesn't say anything about elk. 2228 acres, elevation 5720-9206.
I personally don't know anything about the areas.

Thanks for the reply. I saw some info on Beaver Creek but couldnt find anything on CS SWA. Though it's on a topo map that I've been checking out. I saw the info on Beaver Creek but can't find anything regarding what GMU it is in. I'll check on it. Thanks!

Beaver Creek SWA is in 59 and borders a large piece of what I assume is STL along Table Mountain. I can't find a Colorado Springs SWA on my maps or on the DOW website

The SWA change names pretty frequently, it is quite often when looking at a map that the same area is now by another name. If you use the interactive map tool from the DOW site, you can search around pretty well and even see where many have different names on the maps they overlay the layers on!

CS SWA, have not heard of it either, but if you know where it showed on a map before, you may be able to look at a newer version and figure that one out. ... it could also be that it was a leased property and the lease has ended! (i.e... Seely Lake SWA is now closed due to lease ending, if I am not mistaken, Jean K Pool SWA used to be Dodd Bridge, etc...)

Thanks HC! I'm willing to bet that is what happened. I'm looking at a Delorme Atlas and Gazetter of Colorado. A topo of the whole state split up into numbered areas. The CS SWA is off the side of I-25 between CS and Pueblo. Like you said, it's either closed or changed names, since these maps were published. Thanks for the input Ex! I figured that Beaver Creek was in 59, along with the Table Mountain STL,comparing the topo with a regular atlas, it seemed about right. To my dismay, I discovered that 59 is CWD unit. But that doesnt necessarily mean that it might not be worth hunting I guess. Just a guaranteed DOW test on any deer I guess. Just curious as to weather the hunting in these areas would be worth it. Something alittle closer to the house for next year. This year my mind is set on GMU 70. Hunted that the last couple of years and have done descent. Anyone know anything about the Turkey Track STL. Thats another area that Im looking at. It's 14 miles down the road and would make an easy hunt for birds, and maybe a yote or two next winter. Just wondering if the huntings good?

I think the trailhead for "CS SWA" is off of I-25 south between Fountain and Pueblo. East side of the interstate, river bottom and tree lined.

It was listed in books and whatnot for years. Quail, Turkey, Deer, rabbit, and even pheasant were taken from an older buddy of mine who hunted there in the 70's and 80's. About 4 years ago I had an afternoon to kill and checked it out with my buddy.

It's closed, a bunch of hiking/dog walking trails and houses are starting to move in. Quite a shame.
