Colorado Public land in Game Management Units 441 & 13

We are planning a first season rifle elk hunt in Colorado in GMU # 441 or Unit 13. Does anybody know if there is a lot of public land access in these units?

Looking for the same answer, does anyone have a local insight? I am looking at hunting the 1st rifle season around these GMUs and am trying to find some where the holds quality bulls to hunt.

First of all, Welcome to BGH! You both should order BLM maps of those units. Craig & Steamboat Springs blm maps should cover most of those units. They both have a lot of private land and some public land. I would call Colorado Division of Wildlife @ 303-297-1192 and get the local wardens phone number and ask him about the best areas and what public land is huntable, as some of the public land is landlocked by private.

just like hiker said but, the deadline for applications was April 1 and the first rifle season is a draw season.
