Getting old sucks. I find

Getting old sucks. I find myself leaving complete words out of a sentence lately.

A few more tries is what I was supposed to say.

I have all but given up on

I have all but given up on drawing a lot of the tags such as moose, sheep, or goats here in the lower 48 states.  I figure that by the time that I start to draw any of the tags I'll need a power wheelchair to get my body up and down the slopes to hunt them.  I have also come to the realization that if you really want to hunt one of these type of animals then you need to save you money and head north to where you can buy a over the counter tag.  Granted in a lot of the places that you can buy a OTC tag you will also need to hire a outfitter but look at the up side of it.  After you pull the trigger and the animal is on the ground you have done your work and now it is the time for the guide to earn his keep and you don't even have to get your hands bloody unless you want. Whistling

I am using this type of philosophy for my bear hunt in 2 weeks.  Dancing

Another year goes by without

Another year goes by without one of the big tags being drawn. I've hunted goats once here and believe I will again. I'm confident even the sheep and moose tags will one day be in my pocket.

I have to agree with Critter.

I have to agree with Critter.  Although I am still "applying" for the moose and sheep tags I think I will be too old once I finally draw them, if ever.  My philosophy has been to hunt as much as possible each year using my points often to draw good tags and save my money for the once every five or ten years type of trips for trophies.  Moose and sheep are a little different because there isn't really anything to do but save points.  Needless to say, we don't have many trophies hung on our walls....but we eat really well every year!

Yep just another point this

Yep just another point this year. I am at 3/9 so I don't feel so bad as a few of you have been waiting longer. I would like to take that trip for moose or sheep up to Alaska or in Canada someplace but that is a really expensive deal. At this point in my life I have more time to wait for a Colorado tag than I do money to go up north. As the Cub fans always say, maybe next year!

Another point

3+12 now these weighted points are a joke!
My dad has the same and has been applying for cows for 20 years and he can't even draw one. Something is wrong with the system when he's been snubbed that long. When you look at the stats there are people drawing cows with 3-4 weighted points if not less,
