Colorado GMU 70/71/711 elk herd

As a resident of Dolores Co, I spend a great amount of time in the mountains around here. This year has what I believe been a banner year for the herds around us. I have run into groups of up to 100 elk in both area 71/711. Tons of them on the backside of Lone Cone right now as well unit 70. I have a cow tag for second season and will hunt my usual Fish Creek area, Stoner, Willow Divide etc. Looks like a good hunt for this year.

trosenbaugh, great info, we hunt the 711 gmu and its my first year to hunt there. went last year along for the ride and got hooked.  i will be getting a OTC bull tag this year and spot hunt west of the divide. saw a mountain lion last year in the cash gulch area. hunting the third rifle and hopefully get see some elk this year didn't see any last year, only tracks, but then again I never made it up to top of glade. Elk heards still sticking around? How is the weather up there now?
