Hello to all. New to the forum. I'm interested in any information regarding mule deer hunting in Colorado GMU 40. My Dad and I drew 1st rifle season (10/23-31/2010). Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
Welcome to BGH! Congrats on the tags. Are you residents and are you able to scout this summer? Unit 40 has a ton of private, but you can work around it. The deer population has been on a downward spiral for a long time (since the 80's), but there are still some good genes left up there with some decent deer. The deer during that second combined season will be in the heavy oakbrush areas and the bigger bucks will be in the deeper canyons. The season is later this year, but they will not be chasing the does yet.
If you are looking at specific areas you can send me a PM and I can help you out.
In the spring of 2007 I was the unfortunate recipient of an injury cause by a damaged carbon arrow that shattered on release of the arrow. I was in the yard going to take a few practice shots before dinner and the second arrow is the one that did the damage. That day will forever be burned in my mind. After I release what happened I made mistake #2 I pulled the tail shaft of the arrow out of my hand causing more damage.
Thank goodness that my wife was home and was able to...
