Colorado GMU 37 and 371

I'm considering a change of scenary and am thinking about hunting units 37 and 371 near the end of FR1830 or FR1831. I didn't draw my first choice unit so need to do an over the counter hunt and this year will be second season rifle.

Anyone have thoughts as to the elk herd in this area? How are the roads? I'm assuming there will be other hunters there - it is second season on public land, but just how crowded is it?

OK, maybe I should have asked if I could borrow someone's credit card or even swap wives - I probably would have gotten a better response. I either hit the nail on the head and found a hot spot, or these units really stink and everyone is hoping I head that way in October so I'm one less hunter in their unit. Gentlemen, I'm not looking for GPS coordinates and radio-collar frequencies of trophy elk, just some comments about the area if any has been there before. I've been more than happy to share my experiences about unit's 25 and 26...

I have hunted 371 a couple of

I have hunted 371 a couple of times for elk but I came in off of I-70 where I would park and walk in for the day. We always saw elk and I did manage to bad one but that is all that I know of that area.

Thanks for the info. I've often seen trucks parked off of I-70 between Copper and Vail. Good to know elk are (or were) in there. Congrats on bagging one.
