Colorado GMU 3

Has anyone hunted GMU 3 in Colorado? I drew a muzzleloader tag for November and need some advice on where to start my scouting. I live in Utah so I only have one trip planned to find the area I am going to hunt. Please share.

Thanks,

Doug

What hunt did you draw a muzzleloader tag for in November?  Most of those tags in Colorado are for September except for antelope witch is in October.

Sorry Critter, I drew an Antelope tag for October 21. Didn't mean November. I don't know where my mind went.

No problem.  I haven't hunted

No problem.  I haven't hunted that unit but have driven through it and have sees goats up towards the Wyoming border for all the good that give you.

If she doesn't see it you might want to PM Cowgal since she lives in Craig and might have some information for you.

There's goats everywhere up

There's goats everywhere up there. Get a BLM map and you should have no problem finding goats because they are everywhere. Last year i hunted straight north out of maybell and didn't see as many goats but our group still took 3 decent bucks. In years past, i've seen more goats north out of craig than anywhere else. i'd hunt the BLM up around a little wide spot in the road called "great divide." it's like a small town north of craig.  hope this helps Big smile

I have speant a lot of time of time in that neck of the woods but I haven't hunted it. There's definitely antelope everywhere though. Hellomcfly is exactly right when he says that you just need to get a map and hunt the blm. Don't overlook the small patches.

Yes alot of antelope up

Yes alot of antelope up there.  The nly other tip I can give you is just make sure you now where you are.  Some of the landowners had the sherriff on speed dial and will not hesitate to call them if you wonder onto their land.  Good luck and shoot straight!
