Colorado GMU 17

My wife and I went to look at some country in area 17 and found that they had closed CR11 at Flat Lake. Does anyone know why or for how long? I'm sure it will upset a lot of hunters if they keep that road closed for the entire hunting seasons.

We had a guy that lived right off CR11 just before it goes into National Forest stop by our camp to see if we had seen or heard any elk, he went on to say that the elk in the area are way down and he was having a hard time even finding a cow to stick with his bow. Anyone know this area well enough to contradict what this landowner had to say about the elk in Unit 17? I'm hoping so.

It was a poor scouting trip, we really didn't see much sign, and not a hair of an elk. We did see dome does and fawns. It was just nice to get out and be in the woods, we did learn some of the country, but I think we were in the wrong area, especially if we can't drive/camp beyond Flat Lake.

Anyone recommend a biologist

Anyone recommend a biologist or a game warden I can call and talk to about Unit 17?

Just call the hunt planer

Just call the hunt planer office at 303-291-7526 and ask them or call the local Parks and Wildlife office in the area
