I don't think your missing anything.  To me, 5 points takes quite the commitment, but if you already have that, go for it.  The above older posts pretty well cover it.  

Scout ahead of time.  Have a map that shows more than the administrative boundary.  There are animals and they can be found on public land.  Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Like I said, I used to hunt it every other year. Now it takes way more then 1 point. It is a good unit and I have seen some great bucks. If you scout it enough you should easily find one 14 or above. May not have huge prongs or cutters. Get on the CPER as well. Last buck I shot out there I put to bed the night before and was back at my truck before the sun came up with my goat the next day. I wish I could hunt it. I like 87.

What is the CPER? I'm pretty sure I am going to apply for 87. Mainly because hunting elk is a way better return as far as the meat goes. Plus I haven't gotten a bull yet. As far as deer goes I might try and use my points(4) next year on something more interesting.

Another 6,000 acres you can hunt by just going out there or calling for the paperwork to fill out.
