Colorado Elk Hunt

Hi, my name is Pete and I am in the US Navy. I along with my Dad and a couple of Uncles are planning an elk hunt this year in unit 75. I will be bow hunting and they will be muzzle loading. Can you offer any hints for places to go, access points etc. Some of my uncles are not in the best of shape and are over 50. They can hunt moderate areas but they are over 50 now and looking for something a little easier to hunt. We have all hunted the Avalanche Creek wilderness area before, but the old guys dont want the steep stuff anymore. Can anyone give us some hints/help please. I will be coming out this summer with horses to scout the area. thanks.

Colorado Elk Hunt

freelandp,
Take a look at my free interactive map scouting site, http://www.gmuhuntingmaps.com

I have most of the DOW GIS data that shows where the animals are 'hanging out' during the summer. Plus it allows you to look at an area to see how steep it is.

This might give you a good idea of where to start looking, or to start your map scouting now.

There are lots of critters out there, you'll get on them.
