The draws for Colorado elk

The draws for Colorado elk has been done but the notifications haven't been sent out.  If you follow this link and instructions you can tell if you drew a tag.  If you have two elk applications and one is 580 you have a tag but you will need to call the DOW to find out which one if you put in for multiple choices or wait for the official notification.

I followed the directions for

I followed the directions for the elk drawing.  My CID number is coming up as not listed.  I tried running the search using last name and birthday and still the same no listings  found.  I applied online for the drawing and had a cinfirmation number sent to me.  Did anyone else have this issue?  Is it possible my application was not entered?  Maybe I just did not get drawn?  Now I am extremely curious.

Can you go back on your

Can you go back on your credit card and see if it was charged?  Other than that you can call the division office Monday and have them check for you.

My account was charged back

My account was charged back on April 4th for both Elk and Mule Deer applications. I wonder why my CID number is not being found.  I guess I will have to call on Monday.  If anyone else has a solution please let me know.  The anticipation is killing me.

It should come up whether you

It should come up whether you were drawn or not. Have you ever applied here before? Becuse even if you made a mistake this year at least last years results would still be listed when your information is punched in? At amy rate I would be callin in first thing Monday morning as suggested.

After further reviewing the

After further reviewing the instruction I found out I did get drawn for elk.  I had a 580-Elk resident.  I just don't know which season or unit since I applied for a few.  Is there a way to find out without calling on Monday?

Also, when is the mule deer drawing? Will I be able to tell the same way?

Thanks for the help everyone!!

nope

I had to call them.  The only way to figure out what you have without calling is to wait for official results.  The mule deer draw will probably occur in a day or two if it hasn't already, with backdoor results before Wednesday.  Once again, you won't know what you drew without calling though.

Thanks again for the help.  I

Thanks again for the help.  I will have to call them early tomorrow morning.  The suspense is killing me.  I am guessing it is probably my 4th choice which was muzzleloader cow.  All my other choices were 1st season rifle either sex or bull.

I would like to know so I have an excuse to buy a new muzleloader or new rifle. What do people think about a 300 RUM, 300 WSM, 300win mag or 338 mag?  I am sure they will all work just fine for elk. I was leaning towards the 338mag because I already have a 270, but I think the extra weight would be felt in the mountains hiking for days.

all good, rifle and bullet matters more than headstamp

Pick a rifle you like, then decide on the caliber unless you are building a custom.  A .338 doesn't have to weigh more than your .270.  If you don't reload, I'd stick with the 300 WSM or .300 win mag due to the cost of ammo these days.  The .338 or .325 WSM would be a larger step up from your .270 than a .300 Win or WSM, and is where I would likely lean.  But don't think that your .270 is incapable, it will do the trick just fine.

Regarding the draw, there aren't a whole lot of either sex and bull 1st rifle tags that can be had with a 2nd or 3rd choice, so you probably did pull the muzzy cow tag.  But who knows?

Is unit 501 any good for cow

Is unit 501 any good for cow elk during the muzzleloader season? I believe that was the unit Iput in for. What can I expect for terrain in this unit?  I will call tomorrow to confirm my elk drawing and start scouting on weekends.

Also, how are the bugs in mid september? Do you guys use bug spray?  Thermo cells? or just deal with it?
