Colorado desert sheep hunt

Had a great hunt. Saw a few great rams, just couldn't get to them without a helicopter. Passed on a nice 7/8 curl early in the hunt and could not find him at the end. I should have shot him when I had the chance. I guess that's why they say hindsight is always 20/20. settled for this 3/4 with just a few days left to hunt.

Very nice !!!!! ;)

970TBONE,

Congrats on a great ram ! :thumbsup1:  Thanks for sharing. You were nuts for passing on that big ram, but at least you filled your tag on the hunt of a lifetime.

Who is mounting him for you ? Be sure to throw up some more pics when it is finished. Yes

ELKKILL, I'm having Matt

ELKKILL,

I'm having Matt Gillian down at Precision do a shoulder mount on my ram. He has done several mounts for me in the past and has always done a great job.

JSMITTY,

my ram was around 7 years old.

Congrats on the fine looking

Congrats on the fine looking ram. Hopefully i can draw a ram tag in my state one of these years. Is it a once in a life time draw where your from? It is in oregon so if i get drawn i will take full advantage of the hunt. and be happy with what ever i get.

Great Ram!

Congrats on a beautiful desert ram!  I disagree with you though when you say you "settled" for this one.  Instead you "succeded" in getting it.  He's a mature ram taken in what looks like fantastic country after a long hunt.  Sounds close to perfect to me.  I know a couple of folks who are still boiling their unfilled desert bighorn tags and they just don't get any easier to swallow.

Hal Fast, your right I

Hal Fast, your right I "succeeded" I didn't kill the biggest ram I saw on my hunt but I did get to spend a lot of time hunting beautiful country. There is a lot more to hunting then pulling the trigger. Had I shot that 7/8 early in the hunt I wouldn't of felt like I gave enough effort and would of never seen the monster rams.
