On my total it shows 2012 and 2008 zero points. I pulled my deer tag last year as well. Doesnt show anything for 2013 but it does say my point total is zero. So maybe?
I'm going to say you got it. If you didn't you would have gained a point.
I believe you're right. Checked my dads and he's showing a point for 2013. Im showing no points so I do believe I pulled it! Going to get to chase the mulies with a bow again during the rut, Im stoked for sure!
Bleu, congrats to you and your daughter pulling some good tags. Hope you both have some great hunts. Regarding my tag I put in for, I drew it archery two years ago and got my first bow buck. Last year I pulled a rifle tag which included some of the same units as the archery tag but not the unit I took my archery buck in. If we could have hunted that unit rifle im sure we wouldve filled at least one of our tags if not all. Ive been hunting that unit since the eighties for rabbits, coyotes, and antelope, couple of times for deer and know it well and where the deer are likely to be. Be real cool to get to bow hunt those mulies again. Again congrats and good luck to you and your daughter!
Preference point for deer but that was my first choice. Should draw second choice as I always have but will have toi wait and see. No tags this year for me as far as sheep, goats, and moose go. More new points there.
My girlfriend drew her 1st choice 4th season tag where we found the sheds a few weeks ago. Should be a fun summer of scouting!
Good luck Wooduckman1!!! Hard to scout the deer that will be there in 4th season other then the way you went shed hunting. But it sounds like you guy's have been covering the ground up there and you will know most of the deer in that country before too long. Did you apply for any?
Thanks Bleu, I think I'm more excited than she is! As far as scouting goes, we're going to use it more to see the lay of the land and try to find access to a few different spots I've located on a map. "Going Scouting" makes for a good excuse to head to the mountains when it gets too hot down here!
I just applied for a preference point for deer. I figured with it being her first big game hunt it's probably best to focus on her in hopes it's a successful one. My dad and I head to the North Park area for second season elk every year. One of these years we'll actually bag one hopefully ha!
If she gets a deer the first day I will be a happy man and the hunt will have been a success! Have 3 PP and didn't want to use them on a 0-1 PP tag. If all hunts are successful, the freezer will have an antelope, an elk, and a deer in it.
A perk of majoring in wildlife biology in college is the plethora of hunting knowledge that you collect throughout your course load. One of the most important factors in whether an area can hold large quantities of animals or produce large antlers is forage.
Most universities, state schools and even community colleges offer basic botany courses and plant ID courses. Although it might not be feasable for the average middle age hunter to pay tuition and go back to college to learn hunting...
