I think that Don wanted to

I think that Don wanted to make sure that you knew that he thought that it tasted like chicken. Confused I have has some bear that tasted better than any beef out there. I have also tasted some that was like chewing on old shoe leather, you just never know.

It is a lot like the buck that I shot last fall. He went better than 300 pounds on the hoof and was a huge deer. The meat that I have ate from him is better tasting than just about any deer that I have ever shot and better that quite a few elk that I have killed.

That is the problem with wild game, you never know what you are going to get until after the fact.

I tried bear 3 times. There

 I tried bear 3 times. There won't be a 4th.

Never had bad elk meat. I'll stick with that.

question for exbiologist

Do you know of any black bear out on the plains in Colorado?  Any reason why the CDOW would start to offer OTC unlimited rifle plains tags for Black Bear?

A few

Mostly that license is just to address bears that wander through along the canyons and streams in the plains

Thanks Exbio,

Yeah I was going to assume that to be the case.  Guess they want to keep as many bear from inhabiting the plains as possible, eh?  Good to know.  Maybe I'll have a chance at some this season.

I drew a second choice unit

I drew a second choice unit 35 bear tag. Also covers a few other units including my home unit of 444. I've actually never seen a bear while out hunting but have seen a fair number in the summer.

No real push for one but it'll give me something to do for days off in September.

4 points built up now for a future hunt somewhere else.
