Colorado Back Door Elk

If you put in for the draw in Colorado for an elk you can now go to the Colorado Division of Wildlife site and check out your application.  You won't know what unit or sex if you put in for multiple areas but you will know if you drew.

http://wildlife.state.co.us/ShopDOW/AppsAndLicenses/

Then click on Buy Habitat Stamps and fill out your information.  Then once you get to your information screen click on Habitat Stamps and other Licenses, scroll down toward the bottom and it will tell you what you have on file.  If it shows that you have two elk applications and one is 580 you have a tag.

me and the GF got some tags

I couldn't resist, so I called the DOW up.  I got a muzzy cow elk tag.  Means I have a point too.  Girlfriend got a point and a 4th season cow elk tag in a trophy unit.

I did get my cow tag for 4th

I did get my cow tag for 4th season and another preference point.  Now I just need to buy a OTC archery tag and I'll be set for here in Colorado.  I'm still crossing my fingers for my draws in Utah but no credit card hits yet.

I seem to have 3 items on my application list:

a deer app

a elk app

and a habitat stamp with a liciense

does this mean I have recieved my 2nd choice liciense or?

Thanks, Jay.

If it just shows your

If it just shows your applications that you originally had I would say that you did not draw a elk tag.  On mine it shows two elk applications one for the original draw with a app # of 480 and then the one after the completed draw with a app # of 580.  Also for a non resident I believe that the hunt code that you should have for a successful elk draw will be 581.  The original draw application should be in the 400 range.

I think I'm pretty well set now

Looks like I'll be muzzleloader hunting for the cow, and my girlfriend now has a great meat hunt. Now the real question is what happens with her deer draw.  I'm pretty certain I'll draw my 0 point buck tag in 3rd season, then I'll have to decide whether to add OTC bull to that or OTC bull 2nd season if Katie draws a buck tag then.  Really hope she doesn't draw the 4th season 34 buck tag now cause she'll have to give it up, then try again for leftovers.

Well I definately got a tag

Well I definately got a tag but since my applications run from a unit 10 either sex to a 4th season cow I guess I still don't know very much but I'll just go ahead and let the suspense build till I see the official results come out.

17 points going in so it should be good.
