55

I have hunted 55 for nearly 20 years and the Quanity of Deer overall is down but there still is Quality! 5 years ago you passed up 170-180 class animals. There still some pigs running around and getting to be more. I suspect in 3-4 years it will be back minus another killer blizzard! As far as crowds go, 95% are gone by Tuesday Morning! Why people come so far and spend so much money only to leave so soon!! If you are going 2nd Rifle, get a Bull tag or Cow tag because you will run into them while hunting for your Buck! When the pressure leaves ,the animals start to resume their natural patterns!!! There are 200 plus inch deer there!!! Good Luck!!!

Unit 54 or 55

Hi Bleu,

The story I heard on that Govenors tag buck was that the buck lived in Unit 54 on private land.  In the winter it crossed the hioghway and was shot in Unit 55.  Do you know anything more on that buck?

Here is what I know!! Less then 10% of Hard core hunters give up the actual location!! I know you have to fill out where you supposedly harvested your animal for Sheep, Goat , Moose, Bear, Bobcat and Governors Tags!!! Who in their right mind is going to give out that info?????  The percentage is less on the other side of the hill if you know what I mean!!! That buck was Taken in 54 on Public ground !! 99.9%!! Great Buck!!!

Where in Idaho?

Diggs,

I live near Bend, OR.  I didn't draw my deer tag in Colorado this year.  I may still go there for elk, but need to find an alternative for deer.  Where do you recommend for deer in Idaho?  Are the tags over the counter?  Any help you can give would be appreciated.
