JTapia I think this was the part you were looking for on Wikipedia.
Quote:
After the hearing, though, Blanco released a copy of her letter, which requested assistance for "all the southeastern parishes including the New Orleans Metropolitan area and the mid state Interstate I-49 corridor and northern parishes along the I-20 corridor that are accepting [evacuated citizens]."[20]

Of course there was a Letter, why wouldn't there be?
She presented it AFTER the hearings.

I read the article and used all the quotes from it so as to use the same source as was provided.
However I also have close to 20 cousins living in Now Orleans and 3 of them work in the Flood Control Dept. I could fill pages with information about Katrina from people who live there and went thru it but there is no way I can list a source to it so I dont use it. That , coupled with my 46 years of living on the Gulf Coast and never more than 20 miles from the Gulf (I live about 1500 yards from it now) I know what, when and how Hurricane warnings happen and the process of getting help....like it or not you have to ASK for it. I dont care if you are Democrat or Republican You have to follow the Law as the Federal Government can not just send in the money and material, it is AGAINST the Constitution for the Feds to interfere with States Government unless Constitutional rights are being violated.
You obviously are talking out of the side of your mouth with little or no knowledge of the US Constitution, States Rights, or the process of Hurricane warnings, evacuations and post storm procedures.
Mississippi had more devastation yet you dont hear them, thats because they followed the law and the process.
President Bush issued the State of Emergency Declaration well in advance of the storm, supplies were pre-positioned but the Mayor and Governor did not ask for them to send it. Of course the Mayor has to ask the Governor who then must ask the Feds. There were many, many news conferences and stories about when the Mayor asked the Governor and he said and she said etc..

People are also told that if you do not evacuate then get enough water, food and other necessities to survive on your own for at least 10 days as coming to your aid will NOT be the first priority, The folks in New Orleans know all of this yet they choose to stay and wait on the Government to come and save them.

It is the necessity of having to correct misinformation put out by a few to advance whatever they are trying to advance(Bush is not even a candidate in this election) that I grow tiresome about.

Maybe you hate the idea of an executive of a large corporation drawing a huge salary for leading the company. But I doubt you have the same venom for an entertainer or athlete. Will Smith got paid $28 million to make a single movie (I Robot). For Bad Boys II he got $20 million plus 20 percent of the gross receipts. Overall, movie studios alone paid him $98 million between 2000 and 2004, without counting the percentages of the gross. Should we condemn Will Smith for demanding such an obscene amount of money when the workers on the set are paid so little? Is he a greedy oppressor of the working man?

Excellent analogy Ex. Thumbs up

I can't recall any corporate executive demanding 20 percent of the gross receipts on top of a $28 million salary.

The NBA isn't much better. Kevin Garnett of the Celtics gets $24 million a year -- a third of the team's payroll. What do you suppose the other players on the team are getting? Should we take some of Garnett's salary and give it to the benchwarmers to make things more fair?

Half the dead people in NO were over 75 years old. All this talk of letters and requests and constitution is baloney. Admit it, Bush blew it. The day the levees broke he and McCain were cutting birthday cake, McCains. Heck of a job Brownie. Real leaders don't look for excuses not to do things, I mean where was he? Weren't they showing Katrina on Faux News?

Katrina was a watersed moment for the American people, Bush never recovered. Everyone realized that when it counts you can't depend on the Mayberry Machiavelis. It's been downhill ever since.

I guess that's where the line between you and I is drawn.
I believe with my heart and soul the Constitution Of The United States and everything it stands for.
I, unlike you, believe that the Constitution is not just a guideline for us to consult whenever we feel like it. It is to me what this great country is all about.
Your hatred of Bush has blinded you to the truths about Katrina and New Orleans. The people were Ordered to evacuate and they did not do so regardless of the reasons. If they were too old or lacked a way to safety then that would befall the Mayors office and Governors office to have a plan to evacuate those people. Bush blew nothing and so far you have blown your argument with your own link. The supplies were prepositioned, the Coast Guard was ready, President Bush Declared a State of Emergency and The Mayor and Governor didn't follow thru with their responsibilities, it is that simple.
Of course with all the Hurricanes that you have experienced in Colorado you surely know what you are talking about.
The only moment for the American people was the fact that Government wont always be there to save you and you need to take responsibility for yourself.
