JTapia I think this was the part you were looking for on Wikipedia.Quote:
After the hearing, though, Blanco released a copy of her letter, which requested assistance for "all the southeastern parishes including the New Orleans Metropolitan area and the mid state Interstate I-49 corridor and northern parishes along the I-20 corridor that are accepting [evacuated citizens]."
Of course there was a Letter, why wouldn't there be?
She presented it AFTER the hearings.
I read the article and used all the quotes from it so as to use the same source as was provided.
However I also have close to 20 cousins living in Now Orleans and 3 of them work in the Flood Control Dept. I could fill pages with information about Katrina from people who live there and went thru it but there is no way I can list a source to it so I dont use it. That , coupled with my 46 years of living on the Gulf Coast and never more than 20 miles from the Gulf (I live about 1500 yards from it now) I know what, when and how Hurricane warnings happen and the process of getting help....like it or not you have to ASK for it. I dont care if you are Democrat or Republican You have to follow the Law as the Federal Government can not just send in the money and material, it is AGAINST the Constitution for the Feds to interfere with States Government unless Constitutional rights are being violated.
You obviously are talking out of the side of your mouth with little or no knowledge of the US Constitution, States Rights, or the process of Hurricane warnings, evacuations and post storm procedures.
Mississippi had more devastation yet you dont hear them, thats because they followed the law and the process.
President Bush issued the State of Emergency Declaration well in advance of the storm, supplies were pre-positioned but the Mayor and Governor did not ask for them to send it. Of course the Mayor has to ask the Governor who then must ask the Feds. There were many, many news conferences and stories about when the Mayor asked the Governor and he said and she said etc..
People are also told that if you do not evacuate then get enough water, food and other necessities to survive on your own for at least 10 days as coming to your aid will NOT be the first priority, The folks in New Orleans know all of this yet they choose to stay and wait on the Government to come and save them.
It is the necessity of having to correct misinformation put out by a few to advance whatever they are trying to advance(Bush is not even a candidate in this election) that I grow tiresome about.
