General Colin Powell gives his endorsement. A riveting endorsment from a well spoken and respected American Hero. The part about the young guy at Arlington is very thought provoking.

Funny how Democrats went after Powell for years when he was the Secretary of State and supported the War, but now that he's chugging the Obama Kool-aid he's a well respected American hero.

Obama is gaining momentum and McCain continues to flounder.

While I hope that there is still hope that Obama won't win, I have to be realistic. So, my true hope is that if he does win, that this serves as a wake up call to Republicans.

The idea of the Dems controlling the House, Senate and Presidency is downright scary -- especially if they gain a super majority and can override any dissent.

I second what Ex said. Colin was discredited by the MSM on his way out of the Bush administration.

Now he is trotted around by the MSM as if his opinion matters because of who he decided to support.

Besides he says Palin is not experienced enough to be VP, but some how Obama is experienced enough to be President. Doesn't seem to be a fountain of rationalism there....

It's not so much that I'm anti-Democrat -- it's that I'm scared of who's in charge in the Democratic party. I don't like the idea of the far left running things.

Like you said, it is not the party per se that I oppose, but its leadership and members. Pelosi, Frank, Kennedy and so on.

Normaly endorsements don't count for much. The way he said that one was very effective. The only problem I've ever had with him is the speach at the UN on the war. Polls fluctuate and it's hard to tell what causes things this late in the cycle. I think Powell realizes supporting the war was a big mistake, probably a big part of why he left after the first term. Powell even though a registered Republican is looked upon as being non partisan.

I think the Dems controlling the legislature and the executive isn't scary at all. I mean what chance is there of them starting a war on false pretenses or bankrupting the economy. As it is they are politicaly right of Nixon and Ford, I'd hardly call them lefties, more center right. I'm not the only one to change affiliation.

Kenedy will probably die soon of his brain tumor. Pelosi is a wimp, better she joins up with Lieberman, Franks, ok, he's a liberal. One thing for sure, you give Obama a briefing telling him Osama is about to attack the US and he'll sit up and take notice, he won't be asleep at the switch. New Orleans drowning? There won't be a political hack in charge of FEMA. Why not put the competent folks in charge for a change.

And about donations.... The 150 million came from over 600,000 new donators and the rest from people who have already donated. 3.2 million people have donated to the Obama campaign at an average donation of around 86 dollars (as I remember) an unprecedented amount of support from such a broad range of American society. The special interest is the American People, bout time.

Oh really now, What exactly do you think that Obama will do about Osama?
Did he "sit up and take notice" when Bill Ayers said, "I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough." ? Mabe he did but it was to get directions to his house so they could hang out. Is he gonna invite Osama to lunch with Rev Wright, Mr Ayers and himself to trash America?
He surely wouldn't hurt Osama as his group, Al Qaeda, is just a tiny group and no threat to us.

Just a little constitutional Knowledge lesson for you, The federal government can't just waltz into any State in the Union and take over anything, That is unconstitutional. There is this little thing called States Rights, That's what the National Guard is all about, State Police, etc.
Obama would do the exact same thing George Bush did, wait for the Governor of Louisiana to call and ask for help.
Katrina devastation of New Orleans was terrible but you should assign blame where it is due, The Mayor Of New Orleans and The Governor of Louisiana. Had these two acted properly the FEMA fiasco would have never materialized as the population would have been evacuated. It's not Rocket Science, those storms are hundreds of miles large and their track is computed and relayed to the Public every 6 hours. New Orleans knew 3 days in advance that they would get at the least, Category 3 hurricane force storm.

You have GOT to do better than that.

I respect Colin Powell as I did when he was commanding troops in Desert Storm. That has not changed for me, I do ,however, question his motives. Could it be for political aspirations?

I'd suggest clicking on the link in the original post up top here and see what Colin Powell has to say himself. He spoke to those paticular issues with much more elequence than I will ever have.
