CO Unit 61 reports

Hey everyone,

Any word on successes in Unit 61 for elk this year? I know it was warm and dry.... just wanted to check in and see how anyone did. I'll be hunting there next season for elk and am trying to gain as much info as I can.

Thanks and Happy Thanks Giving to you all!

Rob

Well for me in the first

Well for me in the first season, opening day was unforgetable, but in the end I didn't connect. It was still one of the best elk hunts of my life. I do know of a hunter that took about a 330 bull and two others that went home empty handed.

Unit 61

The Uncompahgre was a tough hunt overall this year on both sides. Even the CPW officers said the elk hunting was very slow this year.

I know of a 380"+ nontypical that was shot and lost archery season. The hunter found him several days later. I have seen this bull.

Most of the bulls I heard of the rest of the seasons were smaller bulls.

UNit 61

Thanks guys! It was a tough season here in the Durango area as well. The warm weather didnt help and I am presuming that was part of the problem up in 61.
The upside is we probably wont have to worry about a winterkill this year and the bulls that surviced this past season are just going to be bigger next year
