The DOW has released the proposed big game tag quotas for approval at the May 6 WC meeting:

Re: CO proposed tag quotas

Thaks for posting that. The nice thing about tag reductions is that there are fewer hunters out there, but you gotta draw first. We just won't know how lucky or unlucky we ar til June. In the deer tag I was hoping for, there's no change, and no change for the muzzleloader elk tag I was looking at. Interesting to note that they didn't attempt to change hunter distribution much, as the few previous statewide muzzleloader units I looked at had almost exactly the same number of tags available this year.

Re: CO proposed tag quotas

I just saw what you were looking at for the deer tags. It's mostly just the does that are being reduced in your unit, bucks by just a little bit. But if that was your "gimme" meat hunt, good luck getting a tag now.

The really dramatic tag reduction that I noticed was for elk in units 3/4/441 etc. Another 50% reduction in cow tags this year. Two years ago there was 1900 cow tags in 1st season, now theres 500.

Well, the meeting was today, anyone make it to Glenwood Springs to see if these were approved? And or get a copy of the updated population estimates?

Here's some more info that was just posted today. It's got the 2009 post hunt and 2010 population estimates and objectives in it.
