If not a horse, you can get a llama. The only "work" involved is getting the llama to the trailhead, save a lot of money trailoring the llama yourself. No feed to carry in, can leave it all day at camp without any problems, very little watering needed and they can carry from 80 to 120 lbs each. Worked out great for me last Oct to get into the Wilderness with my gear, of course I realized I had too much stuff after the first couple of days. I won't pack as much stuff next time but I'll most likely use a llama again. Good hunting and good luck.
