Well we just got back a little early from hunting. My brother and I headed up friday to camp to an area we havnt been to in over 5 years. It would be his first rifle season for deer. We saw lots of deer even more hunters. One has to be a tad bit crazy to hunt coorado during rifle season.
We headed into the woods about 5:00am satruday morning to one of my honey holes. After sitting untill sunrise we headed up this hill. No more then 30 minutes after sunrise a buck poped up beside us. My brother didnt even see him and i spooked the deer trying to get his attentin. Quikly he walked down after the buck and I stayed on the hill and let out a grunt call. As soon as i did he slammed on his brakes. At 65 yards my brother to a crack with his .270. We trailed the deer about 100yards where he was laid up in the timber. No more then 2 hours after sunrise we had the deer guted and were headed back to the truck.
My brother was pretty excited since this was his first kill. I'm glad we decided to let him take the first one and everything worked out as planned that morning. Sunday was filled with more hunters and there was atleast 8 hunters in that same area we took the buck in after the word got out. I guess the warden must have told everyone where we got him because every hunter we ran into knew where we killed it.
We saw 2 more bucks and lots of does but no shots for me. We plan on heading back up friday to fill my buck tag and his OTC elk tag.
A few pics from camp and my bro with the deer...
