Does anyone know of any tricks for removing residue stains on nickel plating? The cylinder on my .357 doesn't seem to want to luster anymore. I scrubed the heck out of it, and even used a wire brush at one point. It's the black ring from where it contacts with the barrel. I thought about using a compound like for silver, but don't know if this will have any adverse effects. Think

I get the same proub on my 44 stainless Dan Wesson. I use Brass and Silver polisher and it works great. The kind that I use comes in a blue can and it has a fiberous material that is already impregnated with a solution (not home right now so I can not grab the can for the name?) I have also used Brasso with good results.
Remember that brass and silver are very soft metals, nickle is very hard so adverse effects are not a proublem.

Try Mpro7 gun cleaner. I used to use it as a bore cleaner. I have also heard of great results when used for situations just like yours.

Hey, it sure did! I even polished the rest of the gun with it, and it is much brighter than before. Looks real nice. Here's a before and after shot.
