That was one of the problems

That was one of the problems with the contest.  People were asking questions that had been asked a hundred times before and posting just to get the points that came with the post.

I was wondering just what the site would look like again after the contest and unfortunately this is it.  But then right now there really isn't any hunting going on except for ducks, geese, and small game but the draws are starting or have started for western states but from the couple of post that I started on them it doesn't look like there is any interest in them either.

Agreed, however

I agree with you about the point postings.

However the hunting season here in Florida and Alabama are in full swing. Dunno about Georgia, Mississippi though.

I really have only been twice this year and have seen nothing. I can't even find a track but that is typical in December around here, they just don't hardly move very far so if you aren"t set up right ontop of them you won't see much.

I hope

For the record, I hope to hunt tomorrow, our last day of deer season. I had planned to today, but 20* temps with 30 MPH winds convinced me to be a wuss. I plan on being out there tomorrow though and then, next week, being in Georgia on a hog hunt!  Yes

You need to come to Colorado for a late season elk hunt.  Temperatures can go into the minus figures along with blowing snow and 3' of snow on the ground.  Talk about fun.

I guess that I'll have to dig the .22 out and go find a couple of rabbits tomorrow for Sunday dinner.

So do you guys like the quiet

So do you guys like the quiet forums better, or the busy craziness during the contests?

Maybe we should keep some kind of points reward system all the time? Seems like a lot of folks like the competitiveness of collecting points.

I enjoyed the contest but I

I enjoyed the contest but I didn't like a lot of the post that were made just to get points.  There were times that I logged on here and there were two pages of post that were just nonsense not to mention some of the questions that were being asked.

The funny thing is that back in August I believe I asked a question to the members here in a post about how many would stick around after all the contest were done.  Guess what?  I haven't seen any of the posters that said that they would stick around in the last week.

I'm still here

I'm still here, I log on every day. I've just too busy at work over the past few months to do much. Right now planning out my next season hunts, also thinking about doing some yote hunting soon. steelhead fishing is getting into full swing but I have only made it out 2 times. ahhh. the joys of being a responsable dad, husband and employee. my hobbies usally take a back seat this time of year. come fall though its all hunting.

Like Critter said I liked

Like Critter said I liked seeing and reeding the post but to tell the truth it is nice to get a true and honest post now rather than all the bull you had to pick through. as for me the contest didnt mean a lot because as you can tell Im not much of a righter but I do comment a little. I just really like the information and sheering of the hunts.

I've been here, and will

I've been here, and will continue to be.

Hey Smitty, I meant to ask you.  Have you actually had a chance to hunt the oryx over on the base, or just taking photos?  I have a friend over here that got drawn last year and got a really nice bull.

Said the meat was some of the best he's had.
