I was sent this photo and have no way of varifying anything at all about it:
However, the gentleman is beleivedto be an Ontario Conservation Officer poseing wiith an illegaly killed deer. It is reportably an unofficial world record but I would have no idea if this is in fact true???

Looks like something on his jacket a patch maybe. As for the light probably looking for evidence if this story is true.

I just read the coments from Clemson and his opinion on the authenticity of the photograph and the "red thing below the gentlemans shoulder.
It is called a "POPPY", in honor of the hundreds of thousands of men and women who died fighting for your freedom.

The poppy is worn before our(Canada's) version of vet. day called rememberance day (Nov.11)so the poppy/red dot is not an issue as far as authenticity. The pic looks real enough and since the guy it holding the antlers they also look huge considering he hand does not go around the antler. The uniform is the right color for wardens as well so everything checks out so far. Nice deer!

That was a conservation officer posing with the deer. It was taken illegally (after legal shooting time) somewhere in Ontario Canada. I can't remeber all of the details as it was taken in 04, but I do remeber that it's not a record. (still an awesome deer though!)

that deer was shot by an unsuccessful hunter after a long day of hunting.Problem is,it was a half hour after dark and the CO's were right around the corner.Needless to say, they got bagged.Since it wasn't taken legally by the rules of fair-chase, it will never go in the book. They estimated that it would have beaten the Hanson buck by about 40 inches. This info was available at http://www.huntingnovascotia.com for anyone interested. The deer was taken somewhere in Ontario. All we can do now is hunt for his offspring and those genetics are out there somewhere. Shame on You! Shame on You!

There is no ifs, ands, or buts about this one, the Ministry of Natural Resources indeed did confiscate this deer. It was taken between Dryden and Kenora in North Western Ontario and it made the paper for about a week. The uniform is NOT an official CO uniform however; I can't speak to the possibility that it may be an officer in plain clothes. It was taken approximately 1 hr after sunset and from what the papers stated is that it cannot be entered into the record book although it was a record buck.
