I would use it as a Doe with the "Doe In Heat" and then rattle and grunt also.
Might make a buck think there a tussle going on over a hot Doe.
Great Idea either way you go.

If you have been successful in rattling in deer on your place before then I would use it a buck. If your bucks won't come in to rattling then I would use it as a doe. I put my decoy out on my place in the peak of the rut and it punked out every buck that saw it. I took the horns off it and used it a couple days after that and the bucks came in to look but were still leery.

I'm concerned that if I use it as a doe and bleat, it will attract does and then spook them. Then the bucks will stay away. I think if I use it as a buck, it will only attract bucks, if anything.

Any thoughts?

Try slappin' a couple tarsal glands on your buck decoy, do a little rattling and see what happens. I had great success with this last year. Get the glands from a buddies buck he has shot, roadkill, or your local meat locker that processes deer.

I would use a buck, Doe in heat and bang my antlers on a small sapling
myself I just use my barrel, only near a scrape for a very short time 30 seconds
then lay on my belly and wait. Tic him off.
