Challenge

I would like to ask the people who run this site if the chalenge will happen again next year? It seems that many of us enjoy reading, posting, and competing in this challenge!

They answered that question in another post in this section.

Yep, what he said.  You have

Yep, what he said.  You have to understand that they are doing this entirely out of pocket.  If you add it up over the 5 months, just quickly, I would say they will have given away close to $15,000.  And, I have been around for about 3 years, and can say that there is nowhere near the advertisements on this site that there are on others, so it's not like the endorsement money is rolling in.  Maybe it is, I am not on the inside, but I can say that on other sites, you get absolutely bombarded with ads.  This site is a nice refreshing break, pretty much strictly hunting stuff.

I believe the saying is, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth"...... Thumbs up

You know, we may can help out

You know, we may can help out with future contests. If you have a particular product you like, then write the manufacturer about maybe sponsoring or donating their particular product for a month or two or three or more.
All they can say is no. I "challenge" everyone on this site to call or write the manufacturer of a product they like. Ask them if they would be willing to donate some product for future contests.

That would be a tough sell to

That would be a tough sell to them.  These companies give alot away to raffles and such for charity purposes.  I would find it hard to believe that they would give away product, just for a prize for someone who wins a contest on a website.  Good idea, but I don't think it has much chance of succeeding.

Heck, if they are that popular, and hear from alot of people who like it, that might even backfire.  They may hink they could capitalize on their popularity and charge more.

You'd have better success going with a new or unknown product, who ir trying to break into the marketplace.  They may be willing to give some of their stuff away to get some name recognition out there.

The sell to these companies

The sell to these companies is the positive feedback the members would give about being able to win their products and the value of the product. There is just as much inventory of goods sold through word of mouth as compared to advertising. The company produces a quality product, someone purchases it and tells his/her best friend and neighbor. Word of mouth, now word over the internet, advertising is the best advertising a company can get.

They will not be able to charge more for their product than the market will allow and you can bet they know that price if they have been in business any amount of time.

The real key is to continue

The real key is to continue to participate on the site after the contest ends.  I can't speak for this site, but some websites generate income from traffic and hit on sponsor links.  Keep coming back and when possible patronize the web's sponsors and their products.

I dont know of any other site that has done a contest of this caliber and I frequent a couple of other hunting sites.  This has always been my favorite because of the format and because of the members.  Sure we disagree from time to time, but most of the time it is very civil and people here really reach out to help others.

I have even hunted with one member who I consider a friend now.  Met him on this site and he is a great guy.

That is why I like this site so much better than the other sites I visit. People are willing to help one another. There may be some disagreement here and there, but it has always been respectfuyl disagreement. The other sites I have been frequenting have some very rude members that seem to be on the site to start a disagreement, not really involved with the hunting topics.

thanks

Thanks for the compliments guys!

We are looking at continuing the contests in some form on a monthly basis. We also hope to do the Grand Slam Challenge on an annual basis, as well as rounding up some sponsors for the prizes.

CVC does bring up a good point about visiting our advertising sponsors pages and purchasing their products. Without our advertisers BGH could not exist.

So stay tuned! Big smile
