Central SD Archery Hunting

This is my first year archery hunting and I haven't been in the Pierre, SD area very long. I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on a good area to setup. I know you can hunt on Farm Island and LaFramboise, but I'm not sure about how far in to hunt. Thanks.

Central SD Archery Hunting

I lived in Pierre until 4 years ago. I miss all the open hunting back there. The two island (Farm Island, LaFarmboise ) are great places to hunt. You might want to check out down on the river between Dows Marina and Farm Island. A couple great places are the land between the railroad and river out past Farm Island and out by the dam. Where did you move from and how long ago?

Others have offered up a sighting of roughly 2 inches high at 100 yards as a good sighting scheme. In my own experience I have come to favor a sighting of 3.5 inches high at 100 yards. This allows for the individual to hold dead-on (directly in the middle of the top and bottom) the animal out to roughly 350 yards.
