A few pictures of the boat I got. It's a 14 ft 1955 Johnson fiberglass with a 8 hp Suzuki on it. Trolling motor and Depth finder. Not a bad little fishing boat and I used it a little for hunting the marsh during the last bit of waterfowl season. A few crappie I caught the other day in a small pond in there too.

Went out in the gulf again and caught a load of mackerel and sea mullet(whiting) plus a few trout. Mackerel have been thick this year. It's been in the low 90's on and off for about a week. great weather for fishing.

Thats a good looking catch Alpine.
Although I have not been out yet some friends of mine have been catching good numbers of Reds in the shallow flats in the Bay at the mouth of the river already, something that usually doesn't happen till late may or june. Flounder have also over ran the shallow grass lines in the Bay. Another friend gigged 21 last friday night and another 23 saturday night. He said it didn't matter the tide that they were always there and aggressive, very unusual for this time of year. I can't wait to get out for some hawg largemouths.

Well i haven't updated this
Well i haven't updated this thread since I moved to NC almost 2 years ago. A lot has happened since then and I've really had my hands full. I lost my grandad and my best fishing buddy about a month after moving here. We were fishing on the pier on the Roanoke River for the striped bass run when he had a major heart attack... He passed doing what he loved and he went fast with no pain. We were laughing and having a good time that morning and I'm glad to have spent some time with him the last few years he was around.
I've been hitting alot of striped bass in the spring, as well as tons of catfish on the river too. Also I ran some white perch traps during the perch run and ended up doing awesome.
After the spring freshwater season I started to fish inshore salt water for trout reds and flounder and have had some great days. Living in eastern NC has alot to offer fishing wise weather you want to hit salt or freshwater. Here's a few pics of some of the trips we had before my grandad passed as well as some after. I'll sure miss that old man and think about him every time I'm on the water.

Your Grandad and yourself are very lucky men to have had the chance to do so much together. Very sorry for your loss, I pray that God will give you the strength of comfort knowing how great a man he was.

Sorry about your grandfather but glad you got to really enjoy your time with him. A lot of great picture with a bunch of fish I've never caught. Other than the stripers anyway.

Thanks guys, My gramps was a cool dude he grew up in Florida commercial fishing and guiding inshore fishing trips with his two brothers. I learned a lot of my fishing knowledge from them and was always on the water... Here's a few more pics of some more species I catch here in NC... Bowfin, Redfish , Large mouth, white perch, shad and of course plenty of catfish! I kayak fish here a lot also. It's a great way to ditch the crowds.
I caught a tagged redfish and a tagged striped bass this year which is awesome and are my first tagged fish.
