Yes we had an early september

Yes we had an early september teal and woodduck season. First split of normal season starts on the 20th of this month and last for 7 days. There's a short break the the season starts back up early december and lasts until january.

I've seen tons of wood ducks down here and hunting them will be a first for me. They seem to come in like mallards and there's plenty of em. Maybe I'll kill a nice drake to mount this season. Thumbs up

Got out on the gulf today

Got out on the gulf today with my grandad and his brother. We ended up with 15 keeper trout by 9:00am. We caught tons more and alot of redfish. All the reds were right under 18 inches so we threw them all back. 3 of the trout were 22" or larger... One of my best days out in the gulf ever. I must have landed 100 fish, almost every cast was a hookup or bite.

It was great to be out with the family , We've been fishing the same area since I was a youngster just learning. It's always fun to get back to those old spots and load the boat up with fish.

Thumbs up

Gulf Reds and Specks?

You were catching Reds and Specks in the Gulf during December?

How far out were you and how deep?

I have caught Specks in the Gulf during winter in up to 120 ft of water but never a Red. that would be sweet though to catch them in the Gulf. The Specks I caught in the Gulf tasted a ton better than those we usually catch in the Bayous during the winter.

Thats a great looking catch you have there and some great memories with grandpa, congrats.

"keep the rod tip up, the line wet, the leader light and the hook sharp and the fish will come."

When I said gulf I ment Gulf

When I said gulf I ment Gulf Coast. We were fishing a spring that feeds a creek that runs into the gulf. It's super low water the whole way untill the spring and then it drops off to like 55 feet . The trout were every where you fished but mostly in about 5-9 foot of water. Lots of small reds but no keepers. My uncle's been catching alot of fish still but nothing like that week.

Spring is in the air... Warm

Spring is in the air... Warm temps and pre spwan patterns = BIG BASS. Been catching a few nice ones this past week or two. Missed some HUGE fish as well. Next full moon they should be on the beds. Caught a giant Chain Pickerel the other day too.

Peeled shrimp for the

Peeled shrimp for the bluegills and redbreast and soft plastic worms for the bass. Caught a few small bass this morning and a 30 pound softshell turtle on the trotline. Can't wait for some warmer temps to get these bass biting.

winter time trout

Havn't posted here in a while. I traded my jonboat for two kayaks. We've been taking them out in the gulf marsh and tearing up the spotted trout. Nothing real big but we've been catching 100+ fish a day. Limited out this morning using jigs and live shrimp on a float.

gulf coast fish

Got a new boat and been hitting it hard lately... been catching a little bit of everything in the gulf. Trying to get some fishing in before we move to NC in a couple weeks. Thought I'd drop in and make a few posts before I lost internet for a few weeks.

Some shots of some recent trips... The turtle was released after posing for these pics.
