Every time one of the car ads came on TV advertising $4,500 off through the program, I went into orbit -- That's MY money!!

Here's another angle...take a junker in to the dealer, get your $4,500 voucher, buy something cheap like a Dodge Caliber, and turn around and sell the car. Even if you lose $1,000 off what you paid, you still pocket $3,500 in free money.

This is yet another reason I don't care for Democrats -- too many expensive, half-baked programs created on emotion.

Looks like the House is pushing through another $2 billion to keep "cash for clunkers" going.

You'd think that the thing would tell them that they would've achieved more with the stimulus by just handing out cash. A trillion bucks divided among 300 million people is over 3,300 apiece for every man, woman and child -- over $13,000 for a family of four. Bush did it -- give people the cash and let them inject it into the economy in a manner that best suits their needs. Of course, that would mean believing people can best decide their own destinies -- and that's something liberals just can't do.

Not that I agreed with Bush doing it, either. de Tocqueville warned about the dangers of government bribing peopl with their own money.

The whole thing's a mess. Watch what happens next. They're going to pump billions into this program because they think they've found something people really like and they'll pay any price to get the poll numbers headed back up.

The scary thing is that the original amount of money was supposed to last 4 months . It actually ran out in 4 days. The same genius that under estimated these figures are the ones that are figureing out the estimates for health care.
