Carbon Express Mayhem EXT Broadhead

Has anybody tried these broadheads before?  I bought them after last season, but I have not had the opportunity to try them on a big game animal yet.  I am really impressed with how well they fly. For me and my setup, I do not even notice a difference in point of impact between these broadheads and my field points.  I am shooting 25.5" Gold Tip Expedition Hunters with 2" blazers and 100 gr tips out of a Hoyt Cobalt at 60 lbs.  

This is a major improvement over the first broadheads I tried.  Initially, I bought NAP Thunderheads.  At the time, I was shooting a Cabela's brand carbon arrow with 4" vanes.  The larger vanes were able to stabilize the larger broadheads, but the point of impact difference from my field points was crazy.

I have not tried those broadheads, but if they fly like that I would not hesitate to use them.

As for the Thunderheads, that be old school, welcome to the world of tuning your arrows with your broadheads.

They are definitely going to be on my arrows here in a couple more weeks.  Hopefully, I get the opportunity to put them to use.

I was shooting rage 2 blade

I was shooting rage 2 blade 100 grain expandables.  I love how they fly but they will not stay closed in my quiver.  They rattle around and make noise on top of it.  If your stand hunting they would work great.  Still hutning the dark timber for elk is another story.

 

I just picked up some G5 monotecs(carbon steel)  They say they are 25% sharper than conventional broadheads.  I have never felt anything so sharp in my life!!! The truth

Hopefully I will try one out on a cow elk this weekend.  I will report back with results.
