Cape Buffalo Hunting with a 12 ga.

Now I know where to aim, thanx!I plan on hunting with open sights and those little birdshot loads they make for .22s do you have any advice on how affective those loads will be?I was thinking maybe I could creep up on him blind him by shooting him in the eyes with the birdshot loads and then stick the barrel of my 10/22 in his ear to finish him off, what do you think?

well, out in the bush they tend to say, "Get close, shoot good", but they use a lot of .223 for moose and 30-30 for bears.

If you want to hunt polar bear with a 10/22 then heck, I'd watch. Looooooooooooong lens video photography to send to your next of kin when Mr. Bear is through with you. Spectacular footage. Really first rate.

Can Quicksand go too? He is obviously the perfect scout with his other-worldly hunting skills.
LOL
Just kidding.

LOL Id be more than happy to have bolth of you along, maybe quik can carry a stick and point out tracks in the sand saying"Bwana Good Bear!",then Ill take my shooting sticks and lean my Ruger 10/22 over them waiting for the perfect shot, straight up the right nostril, hmmm I wonder if it would actaully be easier to penetrate the brain through the eye socket, the bone at the back of the socket is VERY thin,I may change my shot placement tactics on BIG bear with the trusty .22,I would really appreciate it if one of you would back me up with a .410 loaded with 7 1/2 dove loads, dont want to take any chances!!

Do they even make a slug for the 12 ga. that will hold together on one of those big guys?
I would think it would have to be a very heavy jacket or solid.
Then again. There is probably a 375 cal. minimum requirement but, isn't a 12 ga. larger than 375????

You know, they probably do make a slug that would work, maybe like something used in law-enforcement shotguns. Assuming you found a slug that would hold together, you'd need an accurate shotgun and a shot no longer than 40 yards. I am positive I have read of a cape buffalo taken with a bow, so a shotgun slug is not entirely out of the question. I'd want to see a few buffalo being dressed and butchered so I could get an idea of what some easier shot angles might be.
