Hello Folks......It's been awhile since I've posted. I put in for my bear tag this year but wasn't drawn and there were no secondary licenses in the area I hunt.....but, a good friend got his and hunted the stand & pit where I got my bear last year (you can read my story in last yr. Sept. posts). So we started baiting mid-August and I set up my camera. We were having somewhere between 4-8 bears hitting the bait pit each night (and a couple of shots during the day). I'll post some below. Really fun to see. So my friend hunts the first four nights of the season and the first night two cubs come in and play on the pit for about an hour, no mom, no others. After dark he climbs down out of the stand to leave and the cubs scatter.....that was an interesting walk out! The next three nights......nothing......except each morning the pit is demolished.....so they were coming but went completely nocturnal. Hopefully a couple of the guys in these pictures get a little bigger for next year when I get drawn!

Question

Hey Atom or others......since these bears went nocturnal for my friend this year......I remember Hotmoon gave advice last year to go to your bait site around dusk and put a battery powered radio turned up loud on a 24 hour station and hang a couple of flashlights from trees ......then go in first thing in the morning and put new bait into the pit and turn off the radio and flashlights..........then repeat that night.........to try to get them to come to the site during the day........has anyone ever tried this? Other tricks that anyone has used?

Nope never heard anything like that, it might actually work!!! Give it a shot I've never had a problem with them being totally noctural if your bait is fresh and you know they are comming if you sit there from early early morning till pretty much dark you'll see them.
