California Rio 3-30-2011

Well I was back in action this morning after shoulder surgrey, its been 3 1/2 months sense I could pull my 70lb Hoyt into full draw. Five days ago I started practicing and I couldn't wait to get out in the field with my bow, ( I refuse to use a shotgun sense i've never used one on a turkey before) .

He weighs 17lbs 13oz

   Spurs both 1" long

   Beard 8 3/8" long

Beautiful California Spring Time!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations, first day

Congratulations, first day out and already got the job done. Looks like your surgery was a complete success also.

Great turkey and beautiful looking country to hunt in.

Thanks guys!!!!!! This old

Thanks guys!!!!!!

This old tom was very tuff for me. After I shot him he hid in the brush at the waters edge and it took me thirdy minutes to find him, then I put one more arrow in him and nocked him into the creek submerging the big bird, That why he looks funky in the pics.

Awesome bird!, even better

Awesome bird!, even better with a bow.  I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon for a couple of days chasing Toms and am debating on whether to use a bow.

Very cool

Hoggetter! Great job with a bow and now that the bow hunting bug has been planted and is growing in me maybe I'll be slinging an arrow at a Tom next spring or heck, even this fall. Doesn't hurt to pick up a fall turkey tag while bow hunting for elk this Sep.

Again, great job!
