Calibers

Just for fun, list all the calibers you have shot a deer with.  Some guys stick with the same rifle year after year and others just keep trying out new things.

Here's my list of calibers I've killed a deer with:

223, 22-250, 25-06, 270, 6 mm, 243, 7 mm mauser, 8 mm mauser, 264 win mag, 30-30, 30-06, 7 mm rem. mag, 300 win mag, 300 Weatherby mag, 338 win mag and I think that's all.  I'd like to shoot one with a 45-70 someday.

OK, name the calibers......

I'm just getting started to

I'm just getting started to branch out and use something different for fun. I have many different calibers but so far have only taken big game animals with the following. .30WCF, 30-06, and my 7mm Remington magnum. I took my mountain lion with a .45 Colt but that's the end of my list so far. My kids have used a .243 and a .270 with good results and I will be trying my new .270wsm this year for the first time.

I have others that I plan to work with but that's all at this point.

My success is limited, so I

My success is limited, so I have used only 2 calibers.

3 deer in Vermont were all taken with a 30-30.

The one deer in California was taken with a 30-06.

Hopefully, I can add .348 in the future, and I would like to take a deer with my grandfather's shotgun, so that would have to be buckshot.  If I take one, then I would retire the gun for good.
