I'm guessing that hole in the end at the top is for a window? That would have been a great place for a door out on to a balcony! How wide is the building? I'm assuming you have the room upstairs for another room.

I thought about a balcony

I thought about a balcony type thing but snow load might be too much if we can't get there for over a month. There will be a 20x10 porch off the front and later down the sides. Will look a little funny for now but I want it! Cabin is 20' wide and will have a 20x10 loft on one end and 20x8 on the other with a walkway across the middle.

Now that you have the cabin

Now that you have the cabin there it is too bad that you can't draw a deer or elk tag every year up there.

Unfortunately not for bucks

Unfortunately not for bucks and bulls but should be able to get late season cow tags nearly every year if the current trend continues.

I'll be happy with that.

Cook Area

I need to come up and design your outdoor cooking/lounge area. Big smile

I've got some ideas in mind for my yard that I think would be good for your cabin too.

Another update as things keep

Another update as things keep moving along. Slowly for sure as just don't have enough time to keep at it as much as is needed.

Roof is mostly done except for ridge cap this week. Interior will wait till the end mostly, one loft built but still need stairs and railing. Been picking up rocks on the property for the lower wall. There's plenty around and haven't had to go more than 200 yards from the cabin to get them. Not sure yet what will be used for upper siding.

There will be a porch of sorts the front which will eventually go all the way around.

Bought a 1500 gallon water tank but probably won't get it burried till next year.

Impressed

I'm impressed with the speed of construction given that you're doing it on your off hours and managing to juggle all the other family responsibilities.

I look forward to one day cooking a meal there on your barbie.
