Ok im stuck between 2 rifles, the Mossberg 100atr and the Savage Package Series 111FCXP3 270. I want the savage because i have heard they are great guns, but im wondering how the mossberg is since the price is a little lower.
Welcome to the site. Haven't owned either rifle. The Savage has a good track record, Mossberg just starting but hear good thing about it. Think what I'd be inclined to do is pass on the Savage 111 in favor of the Steven's. Made by Savage, getting great reviews.
I just spent some time reading reviews on the Mossburg and all very favourable and Savage/Stevens make a quality product too.
Get the one you like the best, like the feel of, the look of, the feel of the action and less importantly ,the price of.
Your going to have it around a long time, might as well be friends from the getgo
One of the things I struggle with when afield is keeping my rifle clean and in good working order. Small amounts of dust and dirt collect moisture; moisture can freeze rendering your action immovable when you need it most. I have seen this happen on multiple occasions, and over time, I’ve learned the cause and how to prevent this from happening.
The first thing that you need to avoid before going afield is leaving excess oil on the gun. Oil will trap dirt and sand in all the wrong places....
