broadheads for elk?

I was wondering what most Bow hunters are using these days for Elk when it comes to Broadheads?   I have always used Fixed Rocky Mountian 100gr 3 blade.   But i have never had a pass through shot.  even at 15 yards.  i shot a 65 pound bow.

My broadhed of choce is the

My broadhed of choce is the Slick Trick magnums.  While I have not shoot an elk with one yet.  I have shot two antelope with them and they work great.  Wide and devastating wound channel and I had complete pass thru on both and boh goats were killed at +40 yards.  Hopefully this will be my year to put one down range at an elk.

I have been shooting a three

I have been shooting a three bladed 125 grain magnum broad head from Cablea's now for 15 years and of the 5 elk that I have shot with it I have had complete pass through.  But then I limit my shots to 30 yards or less.  The one elk that I didn't get a pass through was a cow that I hit in the shoulder but the broad head went through the shoulder blade and and stopped it then proceeded to cut up everything in the lung cavity as she ran about 50 yards.

No the Slick Tricks are 4

No the Slick Tricks are 4 blades.  They fly really well with broadheads.  I had never shot them until two years ago when  a guy at the bow shop turned me onto them...he uses them for eveything he hunts from turkey to bear.

I've used Muzzy 3-blade for

I've used Muzzy 3-blade for several years.  Fixed blade, mechanicals aren't legal to use in Idaho.  Broadside shots have been passthroughs, one quartering away shot it stopped in the far shoulder.  Every year I always put in brand new blades...one whole season of them being in the quiver always dulls them up too much.

When looking for a broadhead

When looking for a broadhead to hunt elk you will need something that is solid and will not break. That's why i use VPA Terminator the only one i know of that is machined from one solid piece of tool grade steal!!

The last thing I used and it

The last thing I used and it has been nearly twenty years now was the old 3 blade thunderhead 125gr. I never had a chance to use it on an elk but it passed through several deer that I shot with them without even slowing down. Before that when I was only 13 we used the old 3 blade satellite heads. Those things were terrible and would shatter if you hit bone at all, but back then I guess they were the only thing my dad could afford and they did get the job done on deer.
