Bring it on!!

Goose season that is!  Even though I still have a late season antelope tag in pocket to fill.  I am getting pretty stoked about goose season this year.  I am looking to break my own personal record of geese taken this year, but more inportant than that.....I cannot wait to ne out in the fileds with my 5 year old son.  He has been asking me for weeks..." when are we going goose hutning".  So gonna spend the weekend getting the trailer swapped over from elk camp to goose decoys, clean em up and get em trailer....let's go goose hunting boys!!

Boy, there's nothing like the

Boy, there's nothing like the sound of a flock of geese flying over in the fall, let alone coming into the decoys.  Haven't experienced it in years, since they only come to one select location here and I don't hunt them in CA.  My boy is 4 now, and I am hoping to move to Nebraska in the spring.  Just can't wait to get him in the woods either.  5 yrs old is a good age to get them out.

Good luck!

I have never been goose hunting, but you're description caught my attention.  Is the rush of the geese coming into the decoys similar to the rush of the gobbling tom coming into the decoy?  I suspect it is and now I want to go goose or duck hunting.

Yeah I was out at the inlaws

Yeah I was out at the inlaws farm putting the decoys back in the trailer and saw three different flocks fly over the farm house making all sorts of noise....got me all fired up.

We only have a week man...

We only have a week man... well I guess a little less than a week now. It should be pretty fun. I have not hunted geese in two years so I am amped to get back at it. I really have no idea where to go but one thing is for sure... I will be going! I got out today for ducks and got two but could not recover either. It was a real drag and I felt pretty bad about it. I ended up going to the same SWA where it got sketchy last time but it was a little better this time. There were less people and the people that were there did not get off on peppering their nieghbors with steel shot. It was a much better day in the field other than the fact that I could not recover the ducks. So what is the record number of geese that you are trying to break this year? I am assuming since you have a trailor full of decoys that the number is pretty high lol

Yeah getting pretty stoked

Yeah getting pretty stoked right now.  I am not able to get out scout for them this week so a buddy that I am hutning with is out checking pits and looking and checking for the best area to give her a go with a decent density of geese around.  As far as the number lets just say I need to get into the 70's to break it.  It will be a challenge this year but I am hoping for some really good weather to hunt in this year.  My other challenege is gonna be not getting skunked at all this year.  I only had t skunkings last year....a few of those were iffy has we may have only shot a bird or two on some days!

Good luck to all!!

Well it sounds like this

Well it sounds like this weekend did not work out all that well, due to the cranky old man, but hey... there is a lot of season left. I am sure that one weekend is not going to screw your chances of beating your old record so I would not let it discourage you. I hope that leader of your hunt club can get that guy dealt with. There was no reason for him to kick you out like that. Uncalled for for sure.
