I hadn't heard about the mountain goat killing a person. I'll make sure my girlfriend doesn't see this thread. LOL

CVC, what I did was go hunting with my brother. He was a resident in Alaska while stationed there. You could go hunt any game animal in Alaska with a blood relative when I went hunting with him. I don't know if it is still that way or not. All I had to pay for was the tag, my share of the rental boat and for food. It was a wonderful trip even though we didn't harvest any animals. Do you have any relatives in Alaska?

I never would have thought about being killed by a mountain goat. It's obvious the goat had become too accustomed to humans. That is one of the reasons, among several others, why there sGould be limited hunting in the Natiional Parks.

Oh yeah it can be done. I have an insane video where all they do is hunt them with either a bow or a handgun. There is one guy who has never taken a brown bear with anything other than a .50 Desert Eagle in that video. It is an old VHS video I got at a garage sale. If I can track it down I will post its name so you guys can check it out. There is some unreal footage in it. I would like to hunt brown bear but I don't know if it will happen. I think sheep hunting would happen for me first. But if I did hunt them it would be with a rifle just because if I could fork over the cash for that hunt, I would really want to bring something home. You would have to pack some extra undies if you were hunting them a stick and string too.

Your point about the rifle is exactly why I used a rifle on my mountain goat hunt - I wasn't coming home empty handed if I could help it. I would have to weigh the odds of getting one with a bow. If I had a fairly good chance I might, but like you, I'd want to come home with a bear.
