I have the pics here. I was a little disappointed because it was a button buck. So if you all want to kick me go ahead. My son and I call this the cardinal sin of hunting. I really thought it was a 1 1/2 year old doe. At least it was a good sized button buck and will be very good eating. When I got home though my mood lightened up a bit because my grandson was so happy as you can see in the pictures.

ManOfTheFall, what in the
ManOfTheFall, what in the world are you doing? You're right, it is a cardinal sin to shoot a button buck. What I don't understand is how in this world did you make that kind of mistake? I could understand if you were rifle hunting and shooting deer at great distances. Although that can be avoided with experience and some self restraints. Anybody can make that mistake when the deer is 300 yds away, but within bow range, that's unacceptable for a seasoned hunter.
We can't let you skate by on this one. I'll have to ask your son to cut off the shirt tail of the shirt you were wearing when you shot the deer and post the pictures in the gallery. It's the right thing to do. We reserve this rite of passage for hunters who miss deer, but I'll add to this rite by including anyone who shoots a button buck with a bow.

I'm still beating myself up
I'm still beating myself up on this one but at least I had the balls to admit what I did. Most people probably would have not even posted it. My grandson was so excited with the biggest smile I ever seen on his face so that should count for something. Heading out again this morning.

congrats on the deer man. At this point I'll shoot anything that walks in front of my stand. It's been a very slow season across the board.

Thanks Alpine. That was a much needed encouraging word. People can say what they want but they weren't there and they don't know what I've been going through the last couple of weeks. Sure I am upset it was a button buck, but if I had to choose between a button and a 1 1/2 yr old or a 2 1/2 yr old I would choose the button any day. Like I said earlier most people wouldn't even have the balls to say they shot a button buck. There, I am moving on from that now. He will be very tasty. I now have pictures of Brutus in legal shooting light. He cut it close but if I would have been in the stand on this day he would have been taking a dirt nap. I will post the pics soon.
