BOSQUE DEL OSO

WELL JUST FINISHED UP A LATE SEASON COW HUNT IN THE BOSQUE DEL OSO IN COLORADO GMU 85. UNFORTUNATELY WE DIDNT GET AN ELK BUT IT SURE WAS EXCITING. YESTERDAY EVENING WE RAN INTO SIX DIFFERENT BULLS FOUR OF WHICH WOULD SCORE OVER 300, AND TWO MONSTERS, ONE GOING ABOUT 350 AND THE OTHER GOING 370! I WISH I HAD A GOOD CAMERA WITH ME TO POST MAYBE WITH LUCK THE PICS WILL COME OUT! THAT MADE IT ALL WORTH IT IN MY BOOK BUT NOT SURE WHERE THE COWS WERE!

ON ANOTHER NOTE WE DID RUN INTO EVIDIENCE OF POACHING GOING ON. FOUND THE CARCASS OF A COW WITH THE QUARTERS BACKSTRAPS, AND PART OF THE RIBS ALL GONE.

Please don't take this the wrong. I not trying to be a smart a$$... Just because you found a quartered carcass why would it be poaching? Privite Land Maybe?

WILD4ACES THIS IS NOT PRIVATE LAND IT IS A SWA THE REASON I SAY IT WAS POACHED IS BECAUSE THE HEAD WAS STILL ATTACHED ALONG WITH GENITALS. IN COLORADO YOU HAVE TO HAVE EVIEDENCE OF EITHER ATTACHED WITH THE ANIMAL.

I'd love to hear more about the Bosque. Everyone says that is a pretty cool place - even with all the gas drilling happening.

So why couldn't you get close enough for a shot on those bulls?

I'd be feeling snakebit if I saw so mant without getting a shot. Actually I am feeling snakebit. That is how my elk season went this year.

YEAH ANY ONE OF THOSE BULLS WOULD OF WENT DOWN IF WE HAD THE TAGS FOR EM! THEY REALLY DIDNT SEEM TO BE SCARED AND AT MOST WHERE ABOUT 250YDS AWAY THE 370 BULL WAS CLOSER THAN THAT!
YEAH THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WE HAD HUNTED IN THERE AND I LOVED IT! BE PREPARED TO BRING A GOOD PAIR OF BINOS AND SOME BOOTS CAUSE YOU CAN ONLY DRIVE SO FAR INTO THE DIFFERENT ACCESS POINTS THAT ARE GIVIN!
