Booked an aoudad hunt in Texas

Well I probably got way ahead of myself as I have not even finished paying for my next management whitetail hunt in Texas this year but I lost control and sent some money off to hold the last openings in March of 2012 on an aoudad hunt in west Texas. The price was the best I've found on free range animals. Probably due to the area and lack of water or electricity on the hunt. I know that means nothing to most of the guys here but it seems some guys require the extras and like to pay for it.

Anyway 1,750 each gets us one aoudad, one javelina, and any coyotes and bbobcats we might see. Down in the Marfa area.

The license we buy for deer in November will still be good and cover this hunt in March as well.

I have always been interested in these animals so am really looking forward to the adventure.

Sounds very cool

Wade,

This hunt sounds like it will be a great hunt and a lot of fun. :thumbsup1: I have some sherrif buddies that go down to Texas every March to hunt hogs and they are allowed to take all the coyotes and bocats they can.

If I was to ever do a hunt like this it would be for an Axis Deer. I wish you guys all luck and hope it is a great hunt.

Axis deer are pretty cool and

Axis deer are pretty cool and we did see some free range ones while we were down there on a hog hunt last year. Never close enough for a shot but we weren't hunting them. I asked how much if I saw some while I was hog hunting but he priced them at over 1,500 for a small one and that was not something I was willing to pay. At least not without planning ahead and hunting them on purpose. I have hog hunted 3 times with mixed results and think I may have finally found a guy with some ethics after our last hunt. The first 2 times were not so good.

The three of us will be going as usual so it will be a good time no matter what.

Very cool hunter!  Sounds

Very cool hunter!  Sounds like you got a decent deal there.

I know some of my fellow workers in the Marfa area.  Quite remote, and that's an understatement. Wink

Too bad it's not for 9 months, but we'll just have to wait for the stories!!!

The wait will be the worst

The wait will be the worst part since this is something totally new and I'm very excited about it. After getting a little more information it is actually another 80 miles or more south of Marfa. But Marfa and Alpine. although small are the biggest towns in the entire area. We will actually be hunting closest to Terlingua and should be within sight of the border very often if up high enough. And yes it is very remote country. Interestingly I have two friends and co workers who have lived in marfa as well. Although they are citizens now they were born on the other side and moved over later and grew up in that same area where I'm going.
